Prompt: Describe a place where you feel the most at peace and explain why.

A place I feel most at peace is Mexico. Mexico has always been my safe spot since I was young. From me begging to go to see my cousins, it being an escape from my bully's, to loving every part of it to the point it feels like an escape. Specifically, my hometown Luis Moya, Zacatecas. I have plenty of memories in this town it almost more like home than my house.When I am over there I have many people who surround me with love and more. I have the peace of not caring if i bump into someone from school. I love to see all my family and even those who aren't,I love to walk around and appreciate the beauty that we don't have here in the States. When I am in Mexico I am happy. When I'm in Mexico I have peace.

  Prompt: Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples. I have realized while in this course, that there is a lot of writing and going in depth of our cultures. I did not expect to see everyone in class pretty vulnerable with the different questions asked. My strengths are definitely writing, I enjoy it. A weakness would for sure be the time.   Prompt : Reflect on how your cultural heritage shapes your daily expectations, inspired by "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid. My cultural heritage leads to many expectations, not only from me but of me as well. Many people expect me to be this perfect latina girl. Like I should have all the curves the movie stars do. From my home It is the complete opposite, they expect me to be a Heaven sent daughter. To have the best grades and clean until I can”t anymore. I can relate to “Girl” because there is another person criticizing every move she makes, telling her what she can and cannot be. I too feel that pressure. The advice coming from her mom sounds far too harsh, I understand. My mom talks that way as well, not in a judgeful manner, more so of a helpful one.
