 How have holidays changed as you’ve grown older?


Holidays used to be so much fun and magical. I believe it was because we were less aware of the real world. Now that I’m older, time passes by too fast and I find myself trying to catch along. I’ve had to give up my Christmas gifts multiple times for my siblings. Although holidays aren’t as magical of an experience as before, I still find that comfort in my little siblings. And I try to make the holidays as special as I can for them.

I look back and realize how much laughter filled up my life. There's countless moments where I couldn't stop laughing with my favorite people. Sadly, those people are not in my life anymore. One time I could not stop laughing would be the summer of 2023, at an old friends apartment. Those few months of my life were the best, I had made my first real friends and we were preparing to perform at my friend's quinceanera. There practicing with us, was Gilly. AUG 15TH

  Prompt: Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples. I have realized while in this course, that there is a lot of writing and going in depth of our cultures. I did not expect to see everyone in class pretty vulnerable with the different questions asked. My strengths are definitely writing, I enjoy it. A weakness would for sure be the time. I take my time with my writing and I feel like most things in this class are rushed. I knwo this because it always happens to me when I have too much work so I just end up getting pretty overwhelmed. Summary: In conclusion this course has not been what I expected it to be. It is not a bad thing. I believe it will push me to do better with my time management skills. Prompt: Write about an experience when someone assumed something about you because of a stereotype. What was the situation, and what did you do?

 Well there have been plenty of times where people have stereotyped me, but the one that hurts the most is being underestimated. Many of the times teachers and peers do not really talk to me and they group me with the "bad kids" when in reality I am the opposite. Sadly being underestimated quite literally ruined my self confidence and caused me to fall into the stereotypes. I used to be full of conversation but now I am quiet I am smart but I lost my motivation. People, teachers, see my parents and assume they do not know English and start talking extra slow when my parents actually know perfect English. This also happens to me and gets frustrating because I want to be treated normal.
